To celebrate the launch of my new blogsite I have decided to do a contest! Starting today, July 2, 2010 I am on the search for THE WORST WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHS! Thats right! I want to see the bad, terrible, unflattering, poorly lit wedding pictures from YOUR wedding!
As digital cameras invaded our lives, the idea of becoming a “photographer” became just as attainable as the cameras themselves. The ease of using cameras that appeared to be professional quality was fueling this impending inferno, as was cheap or free advertising such as craigslist and free websites. Weddings were and still are the prey of beginning photographers because of their abundance and MONEY! Many aspiring photographers used a LOW price with lots of products to lure many unsuspecting brides into this unqualified photographic trap. Unfortunately, for these excited yet budget minded brides these photographers were not even capable to take QUALITY photographs of their families at Thanksgiving dinner much less a dark church wedding!

Now its my turn! I want to see your WORST wedding photographs! Email 5 of your wedding pictures to me (cmcphotography@mac.com) between now and August 1, 2010. I will judge your pictures based on use of location (or lack there of), proper exposure (or lack there of) and aesthetics. I also want a story. Tell me how you felt after you got your pictures or LACK THEREOF, how you found your photographer and why you were unhappy with the final images. Now the prize…..
There will be 2 winners! One for someone who had a “family friend”( or as we in the business say “Uncle Bob” ) shoot your wedding. And one winner for a “Professional” photographer booked though a referral, advertisement, wedding fair, or Craigslist. Each of the winners will receive a 3 hour photography session with CMC photography. We will recreate your wedding portraits the best we can! The bride in her dress and the groom in a tux (we will pay for the rental too! ) After the session you will get 2 – 16×24″ wall portraits and the rest of the final images on a disc so you can make prints!!!
Everyone knows someone who had bad wedding pictures, send them my way and lets see those bad pictures!!!
Rules: Winners must live or be willing to have their session within 125 miles of zip code 94585. Past wedding clients of CMC Photography are not eligible (and hopefully you wouldnt feel the need to enter this contest…there will be one for you later). Winners must sign a model release and agree to the use of the images taken at their prize session to be used for not only the CMC Photography blog but wedding photography blogs, forums , and possibly photographic contests. Location for the shoot with be decided at the time of awarding of the prize. If the winning couple wants to use a specific location (like the original wedding site) they must make the arrangements and pay any site fees for the shoot. CMC photography will provide photography for 3 hours on location, tuxedo rental for the groom, bouquet and boutonniere (courtesy of Flowers By Erica), 2 -16×24″ wall portraits, and a disc of edited images accompanied by a print release. All images must be emailed to cmcphotography@mac.com with “Worst Picture Contest” in the subject. I do NOT want to know the photographers name! You must however have a print release or copyright release for the images IF you win. you may enter up to 5 images from your wedding, you may include 1 image from your engagement session as well. All entries must be received by July 31, 2010 @ 11:59PM PDT Prize can not be exchanged for cash or other prize.
